Staged Photography

In early April I went to the creative arts festival  OFFSET, where various artists, designers, illustrators and photographers came and gave presentations about their work.  I noticed a trend that a lot of designers where using staged photography in their work, using handmade objects in natural settings for example HVASS&HANNIBAL who mage an oragami sphere and hung it in the woods, it was then made into an album cover.

So I decided I would try an experiment with some staged photography myself.  I wouldn't have the patience or the time to construct something quite as interesting as an oragami sphere so I improvised!
I bought some second hand clothes of different colours and textures and ripped them to shreds, then tied them around a wooden box.  I thought it might create a nice contrast of colours and textures.  Heres a couple of shots of what i did!

Offset

At the weekend I went to the creative arts festival "Offset."  It was held in the Bord Gas Energy Theatre in Dublin and for  three days it was home to some of the best Irish and International illustrators, designers, photographers, advertising agents, animators and artists.  They all took to the stage to give hour long presentations about their work, influences, backgrounds and how they established their career.  The event boasted some big names like legendary graphic designer Bob Gill and world renowned photographer Oliviero Tuscani, who for me, was the highlight of my weekend.
For me I was mostly interested in seeing illustrators and graphic designers and I was delighted that I got to see some really unique and quirky people.  People who stood out the most for me were Hannibal & Hvass,  Ben Newman,  Kate Moross and Calef Brown.
Overall it was a really fun and inspiring weekend.  My mind is brewing with so many creative ideas from dutch wooden sneakers to Damien Hurst telephones!

Back to Printing!

When I'm not too busy with all the interactive madness on this course, I like to do what I love most PRINT!  I'm currently a member of the Limerick Printmakers and thats where I have all my inky fun! I use there studio space and facilities for screen printing. I print my own original artwork and apparel and thought I'd share a couple of pictures of what I get up to in the studio.

I'm also setting up an etsy account so my work is available to buy online and you can check out the finished product on my Facebook page EVEEZOO!

Photography

Saturday I took a Canon EOS 350d to Dromineer, a scenic spot on just outside Nenagh, on Lough Gur.  I went out there with the intention of taking pretty pictures of the lake and wild life.  But I also stumbled upon an abandoned house, and I took a look inside.  What I found was some really interesting textures from peeling paint, rotten wood, vine growing on manmade objects.  The furniture was in a bit of disarray which resulted in some pretty haunting shots.
